Ani's father followed in these nautical footsteps as a marine officer and later became a professor at the Faculty of Maritime Sciences, imparting his vast knowledge to the next generation of maritime professionals.

Chef Ani’s story begins deep in the heart of the Adriatic. Raised among tales of submarines, marine voyages, and coastal traditions, his family’s lifelong bond with the sea is the foundation of Te Peku. From his grandfather, a submarine captain, to his father, a marine officer and maritime professor, Ani grew up with the sea not as scenery — but as destiny.
